Healthy Summer Meals Make a Difference
- In Texas, more than 1 in 5 children struggle with hunger.
- When the school year ends, children often lose access to consistent, nutritious school meals.
- The Summer Meals Program ensures more Texas children have enough food for an active, healthy life.
Wondering what’s in store for you and your children when you arrive at a summer meal site? Expect welcoming faces in a supervised setting, and a healthy, meal at no cost to children 18 and younger and eligible people with disabilities.
Meal site schedules are subject to change. Please call to confirm dates, times and meal-service details.

The Summer Meals Program provides meals at no cost to children and teens 18 years old and younger in low-income areas.
Participating families do not have to apply register or provide identification. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) funds the Summer Meals Program – including the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers the Summer Meals Program in Texas.
The SFSP Intake link for newly applying contracting entities, is available from January 15 to April 15 of each year.

SFSP Final Rule 2022|Site Recruitment Strategy - REQUIRED
The SFSP Final Rule 2022 requires TDA to collect CE site recruitment strategies in its application. Because this functionality does not yet exist in TX-UNPS, for Summer 2023 only, all CEs applying to operate SFSP must complete the SFSP Application Addendum – Recruitment Strategies online form. This simple form asks a single multiple-choice question about the methods of outreach a CE will use to attract potential SFSP serving sites in Summer 2023. CEs are encouraged to submit this form as soon as possible, even if you are not ready to submit your application in TX-UNPS. TDA cannot approve an application until this addendum is submitted. To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/USDA-OASCR%20P-Complaint-Form-0508-0002-508-11-28-17Fax2Mail.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation.
